What I’d Like To See In Super Mario Galaxy 3

I’ve been a Mario fan for longer than I can remember, but when my friend loaned me the original Mario Galaxy I fell in love. It didn’t take me more than 10 minutes to realize that it was my new favorite game. The game had a beautiful soundtrack and amazing game-play.

We have had the privilege of playing two Galaxy games, and now we are waiting on the third. We are going to discuss some things that I’d like to see Nintendo include in the upcoming game.

The number one feature that Nintendo needs to incorporate is co-op. They did include a type of co-op in the last two games by giving a second player the ability to pick up star pieces with their Wii remote, but we need to see a full fledged co-op campaign. It is not too much to ask for when you look at other popular games doing it (Portal, Halo, Call of Duty).

It is time for Nintendo to board the multi-player campaign train sooner or later.

The next big thing is the inclusion of Supernovas. These stars can explode at any time. It would be great to have a mission with a time variable. Mario only has a few minutes to get what he needs before the supernova explodes.

There are so many space elements that could enhance the game!

Nebulas would be another great addition. They would be creating masses and could either spit them out at you or just fill up a small space very quickly. Or even the use of pulsars to navigate through space.

Finally, Nintendo needs to make the games a little bit more challenging. The Super Mario Bros 3 framework just isn’t working anymore and is getting old. I would love to see them go back to the Super Mario 64 framework. We have not seen that in a while.

Without a doubt, Super Mario Galaxy 3 is going to be an amazing game. I don’t think that anyone can deny that. We can only hope that Nintendo listens and adds some features to make the game even more amazing.

They have done a good job in the past by using real space objects, but there is so much more potential. Not to mention the educational value to it too. Space is so amazingly cool, and there are so many items that exist that could be awesome additions to the upcoming game.

With the future being unknown, it all comes down to history. Meaning that we need to look at what Nintendo has done in the past to determine what they will do in the future.

Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2 were both announced just 1 year before their release. The Wii U is expected to launch at the end of 2012. We probably are not going to get a release then, but maybe an announcement?

It’s plausible that Nintendo will announce Super Mario Galaxy 3 alongside the Wii U, but then launch it a year later. That is what happened with the original and the launch of the Wii.

Also, when a new game system is released, people NEED new games for it. And people will always flock to the bestsellers. So it would be a mighty profitable move for Nintendo.

The reason Mario games have become so wildly known and successful is because they continue to improve on each other with the use of new consoles. The Wii U is going to bring graphics to a totally new level. And bring console/handheld gaming to a point that has never been seen.

So the final question to ask is: Why wouldn’t they do it? There are only two plausible explanations. The first is that they have a new idea that they are working on. And the Second is that they are all out of good ideas for the series.

These are possibilities, but with the past success of the series and a new console coming out… I think it is safe to say that we can expect Super Mario Galaxy 3 soon.
